In June-July 2023, the training project “Active Youth as a Driver of Community Development” was implemented by the NGO “Foundation for the Promotion of Democracy ” within the framework of the grant competition “Voices of Communities in Times of War”, implemented by the NGO “Modern Format” with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

A total of 173 participants registered in the project questionnaire, of whom 89 took part in 4 online lectures in Zoom, the most active were invited to an offline seminar, which took place on July 05, 2023 in the Small Conference Hall of the RIUS Hotel (Lviv).

The event was attended by 31 participants. The program included in-depth lectures on decision advocacy, networking of a civil society organization, and methods of influence (cooperation) with the authorities. To consolidate the knowledge gained, a group game was held in which participants practically examined how the interaction between youth councils, the community and the authorities works.

A deputy of the Chervonohrad District Council, the youngest deputy of Ukraine at the time of his election, Ihor Shyba, delivered a motivational training to the participants.

Taras Nazarkiv, acting head of the Youth Policy Department of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration, also addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

Participant testing showed good results: the number of correct answers to test questions for online lectures increased by 30%, and the number of correct answers to offline seminars increased by 21%. As a result of the online training, 70 participants received certificates.

One of the important products of the project is a brochure summarizing all the online lectures, which is available for download here: https://bit.ly/broshure_FDA

The team of the NGO Democracy Action Fund plans to expand this project to other regions of Ukraine.
