Pryzhyn terrorist and his supporters could have faked their deaths – Yuriy Honcharenko

There is a possibility that Yevhen Prigozhin was simply “hidden” and not killed. And the plane crash with his “death” was staged. However, even if Prygozhyn really died because of the plane crash, he could not protect himself from this, because he did not expect such an obvious and compromising step.

This opinion was expressed by Yuriy Honcharenko, political scientist, information security expert, vice president of the NGO Foundation for the Promotion of Democracy, in a in a commentary for UA.NEWS.

Russia has several reasons for “removing” people like Prigozhin by any means necessary. For example, it is preparing for a truce.

It can be assumed that Russia is preparing for a truce or even peace. To concessions from the West, as they see it. In this case, they need to remove all those who are an irritant and who the West will demand to be extradited for punishment. Prigozhin and Utkin are at the top of this list. Moreover, from the point of view of security protocols, if there were two planes, they had to be in different ones. Accordingly, they were hidden somewhere. On the other hand, the same considerations can also lead to execution. Because in case of arrest, these two can tell a lot. By the way, in this context, we can recall how the leaders of the first wave of Russians in Donbas were locked up in 2014, and here I would worry about Girkin’s life. I would also strengthen Pushilin’s security. From the point of view of z-patriots.

Political scientist Goncharenko noted that he is still inclined to believe that Yevhen Prygozhyn was killed. And they did it because of the Wagnerian riot.

However, I am still inclined to believe that Prigozhin is dead. And he was killed in response to the rebellion. He frightened the Kremlin with his ability to repeat his rebellion, now successfully. And he frightened it with his authority. Prigozhin, and especially Utkin, are professionals, and there are not many of them in Russia. As, unfortunately, is Surovikin. If it were not for the latter, the enemy would not have had such fortifications in the south, and perhaps we would be talking about fighting in Crimea. Prigozhin is a good motivator and manager, and his media empire is also the most effective in Russia. And they were unable or unwilling to negotiate with him.

Prigozhin was probably prepared for the fact that someone would try to kill him. But, as the political scientist notes, he may have simply not believed that it would happen in such an open way.

Why didn’t he think about security? I think it’s because there are certain things that pros don’t do. For example, they don’t use air defense to shoot down planes over their own territory. Because it’s a Pandora’s box, and if it’s true, rumors will spread. The army no longer trusts Putin unconditionally, as he has not been able to conduct an effective war. However, the army trusts those who have been with them in the field. Prigozhin was, Shoigu and Gerasimov were not. For these reasons, Prygozhin could not have predicted that the plane would be shot down. A sniper’s shot, poison, something heavy falling on his head, etc. – he could foresee all of that. An air defense shot – no.

Yuriy Honcharenko also expressed the opinion that Prigozhin was killed right now because he could have been preparing some new plan to confront the authorities.

Why was he killed now? I think because Prigozhin was preparing something. The TV channels focused on Prygozhin were still confused yesterday. They were not ready. This will affect the war in Ukraine only in the sense that the next uprising, riot or rebellion among Russians will go, as they like to say, “to the melt.” That is, no one will stop. And this can be the black swan that will bring us victory.
