In its new article, “Detector Media” reports on the results of our InfoLight.UA study regarding how Russian propaganda manipulates statements by Ukrainian public figures.

According to InfoLight.UA analysis, in the first half of December, Russian media most frequently quoted Artem Dmytruk, Oleksandr Dubinsky, Andriy Yermak, Maryana Bezuhla, and Diana Panchenko. Their statements most often became tools for manipulation.

The “Detector Media” article notes that our research and analytical team analyzed over 500,000 Russian news items to identify exactly how propaganda takes Ukrainian quotes out of context, distorts their meaning, or presents them in a light favorable to itself.

During the presentation at Interfax-Ukraine, InfoLight.UA Director Yuriy Honcharenko emphasized that after the release of the first wave of research, some Ukrainian public figures became noticeably more cautious in their statements—to avoid becoming “material” for Russian propaganda.

Representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Yusov noted that this study is an example of practical analytics that directly helps strengthen information security and counter the enemy.

The monitoring was conducted using the Osavul platform and covered the five largest Russian websites and a hundred other sources.
