WHO WE ARE, PURPOSE, VALUES AND STRATEGIC GOALS
The Democracy Assistance Foundation is a non-profit civic organization dedicated to building civil society in Ukraine, protecting human rights, developing democratic processes, and supporting international efforts to improve democracy.
Our mission is to develop an effective and value-oriented civil society in Ukraine.
We understand the responsibility of our generation to the past and future generations for the historic chance to build a successful independent democratic state.
We believe that civil society should become the main driver of change in Ukraine and ensure the country’s sustainable democratic development.
Our values:

Our strategic goals until 2028:
- The activation of civic life is the key to the country’s democratic development.
- Only democracy can turn Ukraine into a wealthy and powerful country.
- Ukrainians are conscious and responsible citizens of their country.
- Ukrainians know their civil rights and know how to defend them.
- Ukrainians take an active part in the life of their community, neighborhood, and country.
- Ukrainians are information literate and resistant to any disinformation influence.
- Ukraine has returned to the European family of free nations and is developing together on the principles laid down by the founding fathers of the EU.
- Ukraine occupies an ideal place on the political map of the world and is a subject of the political architecture of the democratic world.
Our tasks for 2022-2023 (while the full-scale war with Russia is ongoing):
- Developing international cooperation, creating and participating in projects that promote Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration;
- Developing horizontal cooperation with government and civil society partners, promoting networking, especially of local, grassroots initiatives;
- Creating and supporting projects that promote social cohesion among Ukrainians and overcome the consequences of the war.
- Support for vulnerable populations, especially those affected by the unprovoked Russian invasion: families of prisoners of war, missing persons, civilian hostages, etc.
- Development of an independent initiative, the Intermarium Information Center;
- Analytical activities, examination of legislative and regulatory acts to accelerate the modernization of Ukraine;
- Creation, development and support of independent information resources as the most important tool for shaping public opinion;
- Protecting Ukraine’s information field by creating and developing anti-disinformation projects, training programs, engaging volunteers, and assisting government agencies in countering Russian aggression;
- Continued support for educational projects, primarily aimed at promoting youth development.
Institutional development of the NGO Democracy Support Foundation for the period 2022-2024:
- Ensuring the sustainability of the organization’s activities by strengthening organizational capacity;
- Expanding partnerships with public authorities, civil society organizations, and local governments by signing new memorandums of cooperation and extending old ones;
- Strengthening the technical capacity of NGOs to produce high-quality audiovisual content, developing the studio as a priority area of activity;
- Conducting training on organizational development (project management, fundraising, monitoring and evaluation, compliance with EU policies in NGO activities) for members of the organization;
- Improving the technical skills of team members by providing training in modern communication methods, using neural networks, working with monitoring systems, etc;
- Development of the analytical direction, creation of regional divisions of the Organization;
- Strengthening internal communication within the Organization, involving the membership more in strategic and day-to-day decision-making.
