About the project

The Intermarium Information Center is an information and analytical project of the NGO Democracy Support Foundation, established in April 2017 on the sidelines of the international conference “Sustainable Development in Eastern Europe – Security, Cooperation Based on Christian Values.” The initiative’s team consists of about ten public figures, experts, political scientists, and journalists.

The project arose from the understanding that countries between the Baltic and Black Seas need their own information space to understand common security challenges. The concept of Intermarium – the idea of a partnership bloc of Central and Eastern European states – has deep historical roots and is gaining new meaning in the context of Russian aggression. The Intermarium Information Center is working to ensure that this concept is filled with concrete analytical content and practical proposals.

The Center works in several areas. The first is monitoring and analyzing processes in the countries – potential participants of the Baltic-Black Sea Partnership: security policy, domestic political changes, bilateral relations, integration processes. The geographical focus covers Poland, the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), Moldova and Romania, Georgia and Armenia, as well as the broader context of cooperation with NATO and the United States.

The second area is analytics and expert evaluation. The Center publishes author’s analytical materials, expert commentaries and position papers on regional security, information operations, anti-Russian resistance and prospects for interregional cooperation. A separate thematic block is devoted to Ukraine in the context of regional security processes.

The third area is support for civic initiatives and public events. During its existence, the Center has organized a series of roundtables and expert discussions on Ukrainian-Polish relations, regional integration, and security challenges in Central and Eastern Europe.

The results of the center’s work are published on the information and analytical portal intermarium.in.ua, which covers key events in the region on a daily basis, and are also integrated into the work of other projects of the NGO “Foundation for Promotion of Democracy”, in particular InfoLight.UA.

Why this project is important

A historical concept of a partnership bloc of Central and Eastern European states from the Baltic to the Black Sea. A separate thematic block is devoted to Ukraine in regional security processes.

The Center monitors events in the region on a daily basis, publishes analytical materials and expert commentaries on regional security issues, monitors the anti-Russian front in Central and Eastern Europe, and organizes roundtables and expert discussions. The results of the work are published on the intermarium.in.ua portal.

The Intermarium Information Center was established in April 2017 on the sidelines of the international conference “Sustainable Development in Eastern Europe – Security, Cooperation Based on Christian Values.” The initiative’s active members include about ten public figures, experts, political scientists, and journalists.
